The U.S. Department of Commerce is reporting that goods-exports from Michigan supported 271,000 jobs last year.
The report says that’s a 30-percent increase compared to 2009 figures.
Nationally, record exports of U.S. goods and services supported 11.7 million jobs in 2014.
In February, Commerce reported that U.S. merchandise exports supported 7.1 million jobs nationally in 2014.
The updated report shows that goods-exports from Michigan and the 20 other states whose exports supported more than 100,000 jobs accounted for 82 percent of the total jobs supported by goods exports.
