Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.3 percent in July, down two-tenths of a percentage point from June.
Michigan’s rate is the lowest it’s been in 14 years and now matches the national unemployment rate.
The overall labor force and the number of unemployed people also went down.
July also experienced no net increase in jobs.
Governor Rick Snyder says while more than 420,000 private sector jobs and opportunities for Michiganders have been created since the end of 2010, the state shouldn’t be satisfied.
