The Republican leader in the state Senate says his chamber is willing to work with House passed bills to regulate medical marijuana in Michigan.
Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof says current medical marijuana laws are messy as a result of the ballot initiative passed in 2008.
Meekhof says, in his opinion, the law was so poorly written so lawmakers would become frustrated with it and just legalize marijuana.
He says his caucus doesn’t want that to happen.
Meekhof says lawmakers will do what they can to make sure marijuana doesn’t fall into the hands of children or is misused.
The House bills would regulate dispensaries, tax sales at six-percent and allow for edible forms of medical marijuana.
