Restoration of the exterior of the Michigan Capitol building is on target to finish up in November.
John Truscott of the Michigan Capitol Commission told reporters during a tour of the Capitol’s rooftop, the restoration includes replacing missing ornaments, patching seams and some new paint.
He also says he expects the more modern materials used to make the repairs to keep the Capitol building looking good for years to come.
The exterior restoration is part of the $6.5 million Capitol restoration project.
The next step will be repairs to the building’s interior.
Ron Staley, senior vice president of the Christman Company, which is contracted to do the restoration work, says the project is on budget.
