MDOT lifts detours and temporary signals on Ishpeming US-41/M-28 project

MDOT plans to reopen roundabouts in Ishpeming today following a major project along US-41 and M28. The Michigan Department of Transportation has worked throughout the construction season to create new infrastructure on US-41/ M28 through Ishpeming at the roundabouts. The department will remove temporary traffic signals at the highway intersection with Country Lane and detours from Lakeshore Drive.

MDOT Ishpeming Service Center Manager Rob Tervo says that a 6.4 million dollar project creates an efficient solution for a busy intersection while addressing important safety concerns. The project began work in September 2023 and included complete rebuilding work, drainage, retaining walls, pavement, signage, deck replacement, and bridge widening.

Detours on the roundabouts will lift after noon today.
