The Hancock City Council elected their Mayor at Wednesday night’s organizational meeting.
Being the only council member nominated, Lisa McKenzie was unanimously elected to serve another term as Mayor of Hancock.
McKenzie says the biggest issues the city faces are the construction projects taking place next summer.
McKenzie said, “One of the biggest issues we have coming up this coming year is our streetscape and the reconstruction of Quincy Street. That’s going take a lot of our attention. We also have ongoing… the water project to upgrade the water system downtown. Looking forward to it, it’s going to be a challenge. We have lots to look for and lots of planning to do to keep our traffic moving and our businesses continuing to prosper.”
Also on the agenda for this term are updates to city plans.
McKenzie said, “We are in the process of updating our Recreation Plan and also we would like to update our Master Plan. So that future councils and our people know what’s our plan to do.”
Also unanimously elected at the meeting was Ted Belej for another term as Mayor Pro-Tem.
The next regular monthly Hancock City Council meeting is scheduled for November 18th.
