Nurses at UP Health System-Marquette could begin picketing tomorrow morning, if contract talks don’t reach some kind of agreement quickly. Union and management officials met yesterday, and will continue to try to find common ground today. Nurses have voted to walk off the job tomorrow and Friday if there’s no agreement. Nurses say staffing levels at the hospital are dangerously low, putting patients at risk. Officials recently told KeweenawReport.com that the contract issue in Marquette does not affect nurses at UP Health System Portage in Hancock. The hospitals operate under joint management, but technically are not jointly owned.
