While lawmakers return to Lansing for a session day on Wednesday, not much is expected. But proponents of medical marijuana are hopeful to push their legislation during the lame duck period after the election and before the end of the year. Their proposal would allow for the return of regulated marijuana dispensaries. Supporters say dispensaries are essential, since not everyone can find a personal, legal provider and few really know how to grow their own. There is also a proposal to allow for non-smokable forms of the drug, including edibles. Opponents have said expanding the law will open the door for more illegal use of the drug.
