Man Killed in Bizarre Seney Crash

A Colorado man was killed in a freak crash yesterday on M-28 near Seney.

State Police troopers report that 31-year-old Matthew Morgrette and his wife were eastbound in their pickup truck when they approached a westbound passenger car. As they passed, the roof rack on the passenger car and the kayak attached to it came loose. The rack pierced the windshield of the pickup truck, killing Morgrette.

His wife was not injured.

The kayak struck a third vehicle that was trailing the pickup, and caused minor damage.

The driver of the passenger car has been identified as a 58-year-old Wisconsin man. He was not injured.

State Police officials say results of the investigation will be forwarded to the Schoolcraft County prosecutor when completed.
