Man & Child Killed In House Fire

UPDATE (Tues 2/13, 8:57am): Names released on the Fatal House fire in Trout Creek are David Saubert (48) and David Saubert Jr. (6). A cause to the fire is undetermined at this time. The fire is still under investigation.


Two people were killed in a house fire in Ontonagon County.

The Ontonagon Sheriff’s Office says the fire happened around 6:30 Sunday morning at a house on Old Mill Town Road in Trout Creek.

Two residents, a 48-year-old man and a 6-year-old boy, were found dead inside the house.

The names are being withheld pending notification of the family.

The house was a total loss from the fire, the cause of which is under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was Trout Creek and Duncan Township Volunteer Fired Departments, Ontonagon County Victims Services Unit, and Michigan state Police Troopers, K-9 and Fire Marshall.
