A Sault Ste. Marie man is behind bars accused of trying to kill a woman in a fire one week ago.
46-year old Hieu Van Hoang was arraigned last Thursday in Chippewa County on charges of attempted murder and assault with intent to murder.
Police say the woman was sleeping in her second story apartment when the fire started.
She jumped out a window to escape the blaze and was taken to the hospital.
Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.
The prosecutor’s office says they still haven’t determined if the woman is Hoang’s wife.
He’s being held without bond pending a preliminary exam on July 6.
