M-26 Ripley Project Almost Complete

Good news for drivers who have to deal with the construction work being done on M-26 in Ripley. The Michigan Department of Transportation says the project should be wrapping up this week. Project Engineer Al Anderson talked about the final touches being put on the project.

Work to reconstruct the road from the Portage Lake Lift Bridge to Dollar Bay began back in April. The road is now widened to three lanes with a center left-turn lane from the bridge to Military Road, as well as realigned for flatter curves. The remainder of the road to Sixth Street in Dollar Bay was paved. Anderson says these renovations should last a while before more work should be done.

If weather permits, paving should be finished by the end of the week.
