Michigan ranks poorly in a report on the best and worst states for military retirees. The website “WalletHub.com” ranked the states in 19 metrics, ranging from taxes on military benefits to veteran job opportunities. The website says its focus was on economic environment, health care services and quality of life. Michigan ranks 46th in veteran-owned businesses per one thousand residents, 48th in veteran job opportunities, 45th in the number of V.A. benefits facilities per number of veterans, 35th in the number of V.A. health facilities per number of veterans, and 24th in the number of homeless veterans per number of veterans.
