Lost Child Found In Houghton County

A small child is home safe after being lost in the woods in Houghton County.

The sheriff’s department says a six-year old boy had been left behind in a wooded area along Coles Creek on Friday afternoon.

The child had been playing with relatives behind the family residence.

A search for the boy began…led by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, with help from the Michigan State Police, Houghton City Police and first responders from Stanton and Adams Townships.  Mercy Ambulance were also on standby at the scene.

Superior Search and Rescue and the Department of Natural Resources plane were also paged and en-route.

The child was located after about a 2 hour search in good health.
