Looper Bound Over To Circuit Court

The case against a Hancock man accused of attacking a woman in Lake Linden is moving forward.

41-year-old Jeremy Vernon Looper waived his preliminary hearing in 97th District Court and was bound over to circuit court.

Looper is charged with 1st Degree Home Invasion which is a felony punishable by 20 years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.

He is also charged with Assault With A Deadly Weapon without intending to commit murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 4 years in prison and/or $2,000 fine.

He is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

Police say he assaulted a Lake Linden woman with a knife in her apartment in late June.

Looper is scheduled to be arraigned in Houghton County Circuit Court later this month.
