Local Residents Warned Of Continuing IRS Scams

Scammers posing as IRS agents continue to hassle local residents, trying to trick you out of your money.

The Michigan State Police Calumet Post warns that area residents are receiving several calls from people claiming to be from the IRS and requesting personal information.

Don’t give it to them!  The IRS, or any other reputable agency or financial institution, will never call you and ask for your personal information.

Residents are asked to ignore the calls and police say you only need to contact law enforcement if your identity has been compromised or you have lost money.

The best way to keep that from happening is too simply hang up on the scammers.
