Western Upper Peninsula Health Department is getting a $150,000 grant from the Superior Health Foundation.
The money will be used for a project designed to reconnect people with Substance Use Disorder to their families and communities by improving understanding of SUD, reducing stigma and developing easier access to treatment.
The grant was part of a series of awards announced last evening by the Superior Health Foundation, whose mission is to “assist with unmet healthcare needs, with health education, and with programs and research on preventing illness and promoting health throughout the Upper Peninsula.”
Great Lakes Recovery Centers also received $150,000 to help develop better ways for those recovering from addiction to find jobs, and an additional $10,000 for its Compassionate Care Fund, which helps those who cannot afford to pay for services.
