The Carnegie Museum is seeking to borrow artifacts from the community for an exhibit on World War I and the Copper Country to open in September 2018.
The exhibit is part of a series of events being organized by the Committee for World War I & the Copper Country along with Michigan Tech, Finlandia University and the Carnegie Museum.
The series of exhibits and programs will commemorate the Copper Country’s involvement in World War I.
Artifacts the museum is seeking include:
- personal letters
- photos, art, and postcards
- poetry
- scrapbooks and newspaper clippings
- military papers
- material objects, ephemera, and souvenirs, e.g., military uniform memorabilia, trench art, anti-war items, homefront effects such as pins, posters, pamphlets, etc.
- other other items related to the war era.

You will find a list of the Copper Country men who were known to have served in WWI at www.ww1cc.mtu.edu. If you have an addition to the names on this list, please send it by email to ww1cc@mtu.edu.
