Work Up An Appetite At Turkey Trot

If you’re going to eat a big meal for Thanksgiving, it’s good to work up a healthy appetite first.

U.P. Health System—Portage will be hosting their annual Turkey Trot, a 5k walk or run starting at 9am Thursday.

Health and Fitness Manager Angela Luskin says the event has been really successful.

Luskin said. “We already have for this year over 300 people registered and people can register right up until the event on Thursday at 9:00am and so we’re looking for a great participation.”

Not only is it a healthy way to start the holiday…Luskin says many families have found a way to make the Turkey Trot part of their own tradition.

Luskin said, “A lot of us have friends of family that are in town or you have plans with friends or family, so big groups of people come out and they celebrate the holiday together with a little bit of activity before they go on to the rest of the feasting.”

The Turkey Trot is untimed and free to participate but you’ll need to register.

Register online here, or in the hospital lobby before the event begins.
