Woman Killed in Luce County Crash

A Newberry woman was killed in a traffic crash in Luce County yesterday.

State Police investigators tell us that 64-year-old Alice Nelson was driving on M-28 in Lakefield Township when an oncoming pick-up crossed the centerline, and hit her minivan head-on. Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup was driven by a 19-year-old Newberry man. He was treated for minor injuries at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, and released.

Troopers say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, and their investigation is continuing.
