Woman Injured in Dollar Bay Car Crash

A woman was injured yesterday in a two-car crash near Dollar Bay.

State police troopers from the Calumet pot tell us 21-year-old Cortney Vannorman was southbound on M-26 near Coal Dock Road around 1:30 in the afternoon.

As she slowed to turn into a driveway, she was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Lynssie Waatti.

The impact pushed Vannorman’s vehicle into a ditch.

Vannorman was taken by ambulance to Asipirus Keweenaw for treatment. Her condition, and the extent of her injuries are not known.

Waatti was cited for careless driving.

Troopers say that all of those involved were wearing seat belts, and that alcohol was not a factor.

They note that a tow truck with flashing lights removing a disabled vehicle from the shoulder of the road nearby may have been a distraction.
