The investigation continues into the cause of a plane crash in the Upper Peninsula over the weekend.
The accident happened shortly before 10:00 Friday night in St. Ignace near the Mackinac County Airport.
The pilot, a Wisconsin man, was the only person on board the plane which had just taken off from the airport in route to Mackinac Island.
Residents near the airport reported seeing the plane possibly go into the water in Horseshoe Bay of Lake Huron.
The plane was flying low and banked to the side and then they heard the impact.
Emergency crews responded by boat to the area and found debris in the water.
Search efforts continued through Friday and into Saturday morning, when additional debris was found.
The pilot’s name has not been released.
