Winter Carnival Ramps Up Today

Winter Carnival shifts into high gear today, as the snow statue contests take center stage.

The All-Nighter competition begins at 4:00 this afternoon. Work on those statues, and those being built in the month-long competition, must be completed by tomorrow morning at 9:00. Judging will take place tomorrow morning, and the results will be announced tomorrow afternoon.

The weather forecast for tonight is moderate, with mostly clear skies, temps in the mid-20s, and light southerly winds.

Students working tonight will have support. The Guardians of the North Air Force ROTC cadets will be serving pancakes at Fisher Hall. It’s a fundraiser for the group, with the cost set at $7.00 per person, or $10.00 for a couple. All are invited.

The Alumni Engagement Office, Graduate Student Government, and Undergraduate Student Government will be dishing out free chili in front of the library.

And, a 48-hour giving challenge opens at 4:00 this afternoon. The Give Back to the Pack drive is encouraging Tech alumni and friends from near and far to support one or more of around 60 specific programs or funds. Some have matching grant offers.
