Winter Carnival Peak Arrives

Winter Carnival concludes this weekend.

Today’s activities include the tug-of-war at the ballfields at 10:00, sleigh rides this afternoon outside the Walker Arts and Humanities Center, and Ice Masses at 5:30 and 10:00 this evening at the St. Albert the Great Ice Chapel. They’ll hold an additional mass tomorrow morning at 10:00.

Tickets for the hockey series against Bowling Green tonight and tomorrow are basically sold out.

Tickets are still available to see comedian Mikey Day tonight at the Rozsa Center.

Tomorrow’s highlights include the Winter Carnival book sale at the library, and more horse-drawn sleigh rides.

The torchlight parade and fireworks begin at 8:30 at Mont Ripley. The City of Houghton will hold a watch party on the new downtown pier, with warming fires and marshmallows to roast. The SnoBall will conclude the festivities tomorrow evening at 9:15 at the Rozsa Center.
