A woman who was camping north of Lake Linden was brought out of the woods by first responders yesterday.
Houghton County Sheriff’s deputies say the 40-year-old woman had been camping about 300 yards off Gregory Street-Cemetery Road since Friday.
She called a friend on her cell phone when she became weak, and was unable to walk out.
The friend notified authorities, who tracked the cell signal.
With help from Bootjack Fire and Rescue, a first responder was able to snowshoe to the campsite to provide initial assistance. A responder on a snowmobile was able to reach the site by an alternate route, and gave the woman a ride out.
She was treated for dehydration and hypothermia at the scene, and taken to Aspirus Keweenaw by Mercy Ambulance for treatment. Her condition is not known.
