Thing Globally, Celebrate Locally.
That’s the theme of this year’s Parade of Nations and now is the time to get ready to take part in the fun.
The Parade takes place on Saturday, September 16th, marching through downtown Hancock, across the bridge and through Houghton before ending at the Multicultural Festival at Dee Stadium.
Co-organizer Augustine Brutus says spectators are invited to come out to the parade holding an “I Love Parade Of Nations” sign, so Parade of Nations can show a little love back.
Brutus said, “Once we notice that they have posters saying ‘I Love Parade of Nations’, you will receive your raffle tickets for the drawing at Dee Stadium at 1pm. And this year’s gift is two round trip fares from Houghton County airport to Chicago and a two night stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in downtown Chicago and you will also have some Go Chicago activity tickets to be able to enjoy that time down there.”
Participants must be present at Dee Stadium at 1pm for the drawing to win.
They are also encouraging people to take pride in their ethnicity and join those marching in the parade alongside others from their native country, as well as those wanting to show pride in the United States as the USA is one of more than 60 countries represented.
Details on how to take part can be found on the Parade of Nations Facebook page.
