Whitmer Lifts “Safer At Home,” Relaxes Downstate Restrictions

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has lifted Michigan’s Safer at Home order for all areas across the state…

Bars and restaurants will be allowed to reopen in the southern and central parts of the state beginning next Monday, serving up to 50 percent of capacity. There will be other restrictions – six-foot separation between parties must be maintained. Patrons must wait in their cars until their tables are ready, and there will be no salad or buffet bars. Employees will be required to wear masks and gloves. Stores will be able to reopen, with occupancy limitations. Day camps will also be able to reopen, with limitations.

Whitmer said that the successful reopening of stores and restaurants in northern Michigan and the U.P. paved the way for the statewide relaxation. She also hopes to relax restrictions in our area even further later this week…

Across the state, in-home services such as housecleaning can resume. Fitness centers will be able to offer outdoor activities, including classes, practices, training sessions and games. Participants, coaches and spectators will continue to be required to stay six feet apart. Gatherings of up to 100 people will be allowed, instead of the current 10-person limit.
