Michigan’s Western Upper Peninsula Health Department has taken steps to divert staff to dealing with COVID-19 response activities and limiting general traffic, within its facilities.
Effective immediately, non-essential services have been limited, and clinic services will be by appointment only.
Home visits are also temporarily suspended.

Health Officer for the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department Kate Beer, maintains their goal is to “Continue to provide assistance to those most vulnerable of our population, as we ramp up our response efforts.”
To date, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has no known cases although a Canadian woman, who landed at Chippewa County’s International Airport on March 15th, tested positive for COVID-19.
She is now back home, under quarantine.
