Keep an eye out for fledgling falcons by the bridge.
The Portage Lake Lift Bridge has been the home to a nest of Peregrine Falcons the last few years and there is the possibility that people may come across a baby falcon.
Houghton City Manager Eric Waara says the city and the police department are working together to place signs near the waterfront, instructing people to contact local police if they see a young falcon on the ground.
Police will then contact the necessary people to get help for the bird.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has been carefully monitoring the birds since they began nesting on the bridge.
Peregrine Falcons are helpful in reducing pigeon populations around the bridge.
