Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is urging voters who have absentee ballots, to get them back to their clerk’s office, before the August 4th Primary election.
You can send them back by mail, or drop them off to your local clerk’s office, or at a ballot drop box.
If you use a drop box, it must be in the city or township, where you live.
Benson said “This close to the primary, Michiganders should return their absentee ballots to their clerk’s office directly, or submit them via their local ballot drop box, to ensure their vote is counted.”
All absentee ballot requests now have to be made in person, and it’s recommended you fill it out at the clerk’s office, to prevent it from becoming lost.
You can do this until 4pm, on August 3rd.
If you still need to register to vote, you can do so, and get your ballot back by 8pm on August 4th.
Due to concerns over COVID-19, absentee balloting has seen a big increase.
Absentee balloting alone, is close to surpassing the total vote count of the 2018 primary, which was the largest primary turnout on record.
