Veterans Invited To Local Town Halls Hosted By The VA Medical Center

Veterans, along with their families and friends, are invited to take part in one of the town halls being put on locally, hosted by the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center.

The VA Medical Center has conducted 22 of these town halls in the last three years throughout the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin.

VA Public Affairs Officer Brad Nelson says they’ve seen a lot of benefits to hosting the town halls.

Leaders from the VA medical center, Escanaba Vet Center, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and the County Veteran Service Officers will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA benefits and services, discuss the new Veterans Choice Program, and listen to Veterans’ comments and concerns.

Nelson says if they don’t know the answer off hand, they’ll find out for you.

Veteran Town Halls will be held on Monday, August 15, at the Windsor Center in Iron River at 11 a.m. (CT) and at the VFW Post in L’Anse at 5 p.m. (ET); on Tuesday, August 16, at the National Guard Readiness Center in Calumet at 1 p.m. (ET) and at the South Range VFW in South Range at 6 p.m. (ET), and on Wednesday, August 17, at the VFW Post in Ontonagon at 10 a.m. (ET).

Any questions can be directed to VA Public Affairs Officer Brad Nelson at 800-215-8262, extension 32001, or the applicable local County Veteran Service Officer.
