IRON MOUNTAIN – Veterans and their families are invited to a Veteran Town Hall in Chassell, Michigan, on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at VFW Post 6507 located at 42103 Wilson Memorial Drive. The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting the town hall, which is open to all Veterans and their families and friends.
Leaders from the VA Medical Center, Escanaba Vet Center, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and County Veteran Service Officers will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA services, discuss updates to the Veterans Choice Program and other initiatives to increase access to VA healthcare, answer questions, and listen to Veterans’ comments and concerns.
“We have done a number of these Veteran Town Halls and found them to be very beneficial in our understanding of Veterans’ concerns and helping them to resolve any issues they may have,” said Brad Nelson, Public Affairs Officer at the Iron Mountain-
The medical center will also be hosting Veteran Town Halls on Tuesday, May 9, in in Gladstone at 1 p.m. (American Legion Post 71) and Manistque at 5 p.m. (VFW Hall), and on Wednesday, May 10, in Munising at 10 a.m. (American Legion Post 131), Gwinn at 2 p.m. (VFW Post 5670), and Marquette at 6 p.m. (American Legion Post 44).
In the last five years the VA medical center has conducted forty-two Veteran Town Halls throughout the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.
