IRON MOUNTAIN – The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting its fifth annual Mental Health Summit on Tuesday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (EDT) at Lakeview Arena in Marquette, Michigan. The arena is located at 401 East Fair Avenue.
“During this year’s Mental Health Summit, we will collaborate with our community partners to address resources and access within the areas of Pain Management, Substance Use, and PTSD for our Veterans, while also highlighting VA’s Zero Suicide initiative,” said Dr. Brenda Reed, Mental Health Summit Coordinator.
Local government human services, community mental health agencies, hospitals, Veterans and their families, and any other interested organizations or individuals are invited to participate to strengthen the collaborations between the VA and the community.
The purpose of the Mental Health Summit is to bring together key stakeholders in the community, including Veterans and their families, with the goal of enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of Veterans and their families.
“We in the VA realize that we cannot do this alone; we need to partner with the community to best serve our Veterans, and this is particularly true for our rural Veteran population,” said Jim Rice, Medical Center Director.
