UPPCO Closing Boat Launch In Ontonagon County For Upgrades

Marquette Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) announced today it will be scheduling a temporary closure of the boat launch at its Victoria Hydroelectric Development located within the Bond Falls Hydroelectric Project.

UPPCO will be closing the boat launch due to upgrades being done at the site to make it more accessible for people looking to access the basin as a recreational resource. The new upgrades will involve the removal of a building and renovation of the site in order to allow for more efficient boating access and parking.   It is anticipated that the project will begin late August and will extend through the end of September. During that time, the boat launch will be closed for safety reasons and due to stage equipment and materials for the project. Signs will be posted at the site regarding the boat launch closure.

“We are excited to make these improvements to the recreation site,” said Jarrod Nelson, Environmental Consultant for UPPCO. “At the same time, we want to ensure the safety of the public while the project is underway, and are asking folks to avoid the area during the project.”

UPPCO encourages boaters and anglers to take advantage of its other basins within the Bond Falls Hydroelectric Project.  For more information, visit www.uppco.com.
