UPEDA Health Care Program Looks At UP health Care Issues

Houghton, Michigan, September 28, 2018 – The Upper Peninsula Economic Development Alliance will be holding a program on health care issues in the Upper Peninsula on October 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern at the Magnuson Franklin Square Inn in Houghton. Registration Opens at 10:00.

The keynote speaker will be Brian Sinotte, FACHE, Market President for UP Health System and CEO of UP Health System – Marquette. A dynamic leader with more than a decade of healthcare management and operational leadership experience, Sinotte has served as CEO of UP Health System – Marquette since August 2016. Prior to this Sinotte was CEO of Maria Parham Medical Center (MPMC), a Duke LifePoint Healthcare facility in Henderson, North Carolina. Before MPMC, Sinotte served as CEO of MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, Illinois. He also has held numerous other leadership positions at hospitals in Indiana, Minnesota and Virginia.

Kate Beer, MPA, CPA, CGMA, Health Officer-Administrator of the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department will share critical information about the state of health care in the region that came out of the recently completed Upper Peninsula Health Needs Assessment.

UP based health care consultant Kayla West will speak about health care outcome partnerships and cost reduction strategies. Ms. West brings over 23 years of experience with national, state, and community level health care issues.

Ryan Soucy, community planner with the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region will speak about the demographics of our region, the impact they have on health care and what we need to be thinking about moving forward.
