In an email sent to parents, Hancock Schools Superintendent Steve Patchin updated parents on several issues important to the district.
He began by saying the district can count on losing up to $700 per student due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The state is expected to lose up to $1.1 Billion out of next year’s budget.
Patchin urged parents to contact legislators and ask them to pursue additional funding, to limit cuts to K-12 education.
He went on to thank food service workers, namely Shelby Turnquist for the amazing job they have done, during the pandemic.
The district’s meal program has been extended through June 30th, and the district has sent the application to continue the program until August.
A High School Graduation ceremony will take place this Saturday, on the football field, for direct family members only, with strict social distancing guidelines in place.
The ceremony will be streamed live.
More details, when they become available.
Patchin also urged parents to work with their children, to make sure they got to the 60% participation level, needed to move ahead to the next grade.
The board will also continue working on plans to maximize education, with limited resources, due to the impending budget cuts.
Dr. Patchin also took a moment to thank retiring teachers Sue Zubeina and Paul Dube, and asked everyone else to do the same.
He also reminded everyone he has an open door policy.
