UPDATE; Boil Water Alert Posted for East Hancock

Update; The precautionary boil advisory for portions of east Hancock has ended. The city received an all good from EGLE, following test samples given on Monday. The advisory was put in place as a precaution after the city worked on water main repairs in east Hancock.

A precautionary boil water alert is in effect for East Hancock from Dunstan Street east to the city limits.

A recent repair may have allowed some contamination to enter the system.

Water used for drinking, cooking or brushing teeth should be boiled for at least two minutes, and then cooled before use. Uses which do not involve consumption, such as bathing and clothes washing, are okay.

The alert will remain in effect until the system tests clear of bacteria twice in a 48-hour span.
