UP Health System Portage has announced they now offer PET/CT scans.
A PET/CT Scanner combines Positron Emission Tomography with Computed Tomography images.
PET images show the function of cells in the body, while CT images show anatomy such as vessels and organs.
When the two are combined, it allows physicians to better diagnose, monitor and determine treatment for cancer.
Chief Executive Officer Ed Freysinger said they are thrilled to be able to offer new technology which allows them to advance the high quality care we provide our patients.
A PET/CT scan can help determine the size and location of growths, whether or not cancer is spreading, if the designated treatment is working or if the cancer has come back.
