One of the state’s most strident opponents of the governor’s strict COVID-19 guidelines now has the disease.
On a social media post, Republican Representative Beau LaFave of Iron Mountain confirmed that he experienced symptoms over the weekend, and has tested positive.
He says he’ll remain at home until he is not a threat to the public, and is cooperating with tracers who are trying to identify others whom he may have infected.
Republican State Representative Greg Markkanen of Hancock, who also opposes the strict state lockdown, also recently confirmed that he had been exposed to someone who is infected.
His self-quarantine has caused him to miss some House votes, including the recent vote on the new state budget.
