The COVID-10 infection rate in Michigan continues to soar.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases per day set a new record Saturday, when it reached 4,231. That’s more than two-and-a-half times the highest level seen during the initial surge last spring.
The hardest-hit area continues to be the Upper Peninsula. Ontonagon County’s seven-day rolling average of new cases per day has hit 165 per 100,000 residents.
Delta County is at 120, Dickinson County is at 111, Luce County is at 96, Iron County is at 92, and Baraga County is at 89.
Houghton is at a more moderate, but still red-level 33 diagnoses per 100,000 residents per day.
Across the state, 65 deaths were reported Saturday.
