Two Walk Away from Marquette Plane Crash

A father and son escaped injury when their small airplane crash landed in Marquette County last evening.

The 48-year-old man and eight-year-old boy were located outside the plane when first responders arrived at the scene about five miles east of K.I. Sawyer Airport.

The man told State Police troopers that the plane lost power while in flight. He tried to make an emergency landing in a field, but overshot, came down on County Road 545, and then veered into some trees.

The plane has been towed to a hanger at K.I. Sawyer, and will be inspected by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The identities of the pilot and his son have not been released.
