Two suspects from Ontonagon County are in custody for allegedly selling crystal meth.
Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET), as well as agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted an investigation in Ewen Monday.
That investigation led to the arrest of a 28 year old woman and 29 year old man, both from Ewen.
Both suspects were arrested without incident and lodged at the Ontonagon County Jail on felony charges related to the sale of crystal meth.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
Detectives were assisted by personnel from the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department, MSP Wakefield Post, MSP Iron Mountain Post, and MSP Calumet Post.
UPSET was also assisted by the Ontonagon County Prosecutor’s office, which has worked closely with the detectives assigned and provided trusted guidance on their investigations. The Ontonagon County Prosecutor’s office has excelled in providing wise counsel to the detectives and promotes productive cooperation with the federal agents to ensure the cases in Ontonagon are handled in an effective manner.
