Two Hurt, One Arrested in Early Sunday Crash

A young woman is facing a drunk driving charge following a single-car crash early Sunday. 

Houghton County Sheriff’s deputies were called out at 4:20 a.m. to the area near US-41 and Boston Road. They found the vehicle with two 18-year-old women inside. 

Both were taken to UP Health System-Portage for treatment.

The driver was released from the hospital, but was arrested by deputies for Operating While Intoxicated. She was housed at the Houghton County Jail. 

Identities of the two women, and the condition of the passenger, have not been released.

The Houghton City Police Department and Mercy Ambulance assisted at the scene.
