With the November election in just a few weeks, voters have two opportunities to meet local candidates this Saturday.
The first is at the Family Freedom Festival, being held in Chassell from 1-4pm at the Chassell VFW.
Everything is free, sponsored by the eight auxiliaries of the district. Food and drinks will be offered. Raffle prizes will include bicycles and snow shoes for children with gift cards and raffle baskets for adults.
Candidates on the November ballot who have indicated they will attend include Jack Bergman, Matt Morgan, Scott Dianda, Ed McBroom, Ken Summers, Gregory Markkanen, Sharon Stoll, and Roy Britz.
The Chassell Fire Department, Mercy Ambulance, and the Chassell First Responders will have a fire truck and ambulance on the premises. The State Police are bringing a texting simulator. Health information will be offered by Aspirus Keweenaw and UP Health System Portage. UPPCO will be doing as demonstration on an electrical safety board. Face painting, helium balloons, and a dessert walk will also be held.
Then later that afternoon from 4-6pm, the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce and the Baraga County Convention and Visitors Bureau will host a Meet the Candidates Event at the L’Anse American Legion Hall.
Candidates for local, state and federal office have been invited.
There is no charge and the Legion will have food available to purchase. For more details, click here.
