Two Arrested on Drug Charges in Baraga County

Two Zeba residents were arrested on drug charges Thursday along US-41, south of L’Anse.

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team say they had been investigating the pair for four months. On Thursday, the suspects were driving on US-41 south of L’Anse, when their vehicle slid off the icy road into a ditch.

Neither were hurt, and their vehicle was not damaged.

Detectives arrested them at the scene, and took them to the Baraga County Jail. They recovered numerous prescription pills.

Officers with a search warrant also seized about 10 grams of crystal meth, numerous prescription pills and evidence of drug distribution from the suspects’ home in Zeba.

The names of the suspects will be released after their arraignment. Officials say one is currently on federal probation for prior drug and weapons charges.
