As much of a holiday tradition as turkey and pumpkin pie, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly will once again make sure no senior has to spend Thanksgiving alone.
They will be serving up full Thanksgiving dinners with all the trimmings at nine locations.
“We’re at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock, Sacred Heart Church in Calumet, the St. Ignatius Church in Houghton, the Doelle Senior Center in Tapiola, Grace Lutheran Church in South Range, the Horizons School in Mohawk, Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon, St. Ann’s Church in Baraga and at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Marquette,” saidLittle Brothers Program Director Carol Korpela, who says meals will also be delivered to homebound seniors.
Guests are invited to come and eat, enjoy good company and the entertainment provided by Little Brothers and their volunteers.
Executive Director Cathy Aten says it’s an impressive operation putting these dinners together.
Aten said, “On Thanksgiving Day, we’ll have about 400 volunteers helping among all the sites but I think it’s the community that makes it all possible for us.”
