On March 5th, Joseph Ballone pulled over a woman for speeding. During the stop, she passed out behind the wheel of her car.

Unable to revive her, Ballone pulled her out of the car, and began CPR. Her pulse and breathing resumed, but then stopped again, and Ballone resumed CPR.

At that point, the victim’s employer called her phone. Trooper Ballone answered it, and was informed that she had a history of abusing opioids. Balone administered NARCAN just as the ambulance arrived at the scene.

The victim was treated at a hospital, and has made a full recovery.

For his efforts, Trooper Joseph Ballone will receive the Michigan State Police Citation for Lifesaving.
