Hancock— On Monday, March 11, 350+ 9th grade students from the Copper Country Intermediate School District will attend a College & Career Fair, hosted by TRIO Pre-College Programs.
One hundred local professionals from 35 businesses/organizations and 7 Upper Michigan colleges will be available to share their expertise with students. The event will take place at the Paavo Nurmi Center at Finlandia University from 9:30-11:30 AM.
The fair will provide students the opportunity to explore various career options through conversation with local businesses and organizations. Students are encouraged to speak with professionals from more than one field.
“Our goal is to show students a wide variety of careers. While they may think of doctors and nurses when thinking of Health Sciences, there are several other options like radiology, audiology, mental health, etc. There are so many careers to explore and 9th grade is a great time to start the exploration,” says Kailee Laplander of TRIO Pre-College Programs.
Professionals are categorized by their Michigan Pathways color.
Participants will have the chance to talk with admissions representatives from several colleges who offer a variety of programs from certificate to PhD.
Students will have the opportunity to win raffle prizes at the fair. Students who are enrolled with TRIO Pre-College Programs will stay on campus for lunch, a keynote speaker and an interactive workshop on problem solving
