Three Women To Run For Houghton County Board of Commissioners

When Houghton County voters head to the polls this election season, they will find more women on the ballot for County Commissioner than ever before.

That claim is being made by the Houghton County Democratic Party, who says three women will announce their candidacy for the county seats on March 17th.

Melissa Davis, Gretchen Janssen and Dr. Sharon Stoll–all Democrats–will campaign for the seats in District 2, District 4 and District 5, respectively.

Those seats are currently held by Al Koskela, Scott Ala and Tim Palosaari.

Koskela and Palosaari are two of the three Republicans currently on the board. Ala is a Democrat.

Davis, Janssen and Stoll will make their announcement at the Super 8 Conference Room in Houghton at 9am and are expected to be endorsed by State Representative Scott Dianda, who is running for State Senate.
