Copper Country residents found a way to beat the heat in Ahmeek at the Copper Shores Community Picnic. Area residents traveled from around the copper country to meet more than 30 non-profit and community action groups at the Gabriel Chopp Park in Ahmeek. As with each of the past community picnic events organized by the foundation, the day offers a day of relaxation and meeting new people, and highlights work by Copper Shores around the Copper Country.
As you can see behind me, the pavilions that have been erected were funded in part by the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation. So we are very glad that they can make good use of them. The entire picnic, as you can see, has a host of vendors, organizations, and folks that provide help to our communities in times of need and offer a lot of services. It’s great that we have this opportunity to share them with the community and the Copper Shores chose to bring the picnic up to the village of Ahmeek. – Michael Defina, Grant Coordinator, Village of Ahmeek
Village of Ahmeek Grant Coordinator Michael Defina adds that the village has used other grant funding to add additional amenities to the park, including a handicap-accessible swing set. The village of Ahmeek plans to continue to develop the space as a central gathering place for the community. View some photos from yesterday’s Community Picnic below.
